After Real Madrid's season crumbled to dust, there were many arguments about what really went wrong in the second half of the season. Madrid saw their dominance in the first half of the season result in no trophy at all and after playing 6 games with Atletico Madrid, it was apparent that the Vicente Calderon outfit was the team in Madrid. Many have tried to imagine what really wen wrong and Madrid's midfield department has been found to be wanting. With injuries to Modric in the latter part of the season and lukewarm performances by Khedira when he got the opportunity, it was obvious that Madrid lacked a world class midfielder. Asier Illaramendi could also not fill the boots of Xabi Alonso. Ancelloti was left with no choice but to sometimes play Sergio Ramos or Pepe in the engine room and this did not pay off. It therefore means that Madrid has to do business to strengthen their midfield this summer. But who can they get?
The most impressive and suitable candidate for that position is none other than Paul Pogba. The 22 year old French midfield powerhouse is almost everything that Madrid want. He has pace for their counter attacking moves and is very physical and aggressive which happens to suit Madrid's style of play. He provides good defensive cover which would certainly help Madrid's temperamental centre halfs, Pepe and Ramos. He would lighten the burden of marking for them. If there is a player that the Los Blancos have to try to sign, it is certainly PP. He has a tendency of bullying weaker midfields and dominates the engine room all most everytime. For Madrid to win things next season, Pogba is the type of crack player that they will need to sign. He would certainly make it easier for Ronaldo and co at the front to score goals as he also has an eye for a pass.
The top officials at Real Madrid enjoy signing players who are already tried and trusted but I think it is high time that they can take gambles and sign some players who cost less. Look what Barcelona did with Ivan Rakitic and the newly acquired right back, Aleix Vidal. A player of that type that Real Madrid could try to sign is Espanyol's Nolito. The skillful and quick forward could be a good squad rotation player and with time could prove to be an excellent acquisition. Also, Madrid could stop looking at expensive strikers like Sergio Aguero and focus on Carlos Bacca who is a lethal goal scorer at Sevilla. These players have experience in the Spanish liga. REAL MADRID HAVE TO GET INTO THE MARKET AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO STRENGTHEN THEIR SQUAD!!
