Former Real Madrid player Santiago Solari has been named temporary head coach at Real Madrid following the sacking of Julen Lopetegui.
Lopetegui was given his marching orders on Monday night just 24 hours after seeing Los Blancos fall to an embarrassing 5-1 defeat at rivals Barcelona and slip to ninth in the Liga table.
Solari has been the man selected to take control of first-team affairs from Tuesday morning, where he will be expected to take training and hold the regular pre-match press conference with Madrid facing Melilla in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night.
The Argentinian has been in charge of Real Madrid Castilla and will be seen as a short-term replacement until the Madrid board agrees on a permanent head coach.
Solari is also expected to be in charge when Madrid return to Liga action against Real Valladolid at the Bernabéu on Saturday afternoon.
