Real Madrid Castilla's hopes of promotion come to an end
Real Madrid Castilla's hopes of an immediate return to the Segunda Division came to an end at Valdebebas on Sunday afternoon after a 1-1 draw against Guadalajara.
Sergio Aguza had fired Castilla ahead with 17 minutes to go but they could not hold on to their lead with Abel Molinero ensuring a share of the spoils for the visitors.
The result means the season will end in disappointment for Castilla, who targeted an immediate return to the second tier of Spanish football.
The match was the first since coach Zinedine Zidane officially picked up his UEFA Pro Licence but the Frenchman will not celebrate his first season as a coach in glory.
Martin Odegaard featured for the full 90 minutes and struck the post in an impressive performance but decisions will need to be made over whether he continues with Castilla in the third tier of Spanish football next season or moves elsewhere on loan.
Castilla will bring their campaign to a close with a short trip to Toledo next weekend.
