Match Report: Real Madrid 7-3 Getafe
La Liga, Santiago Bernabeu
Madrid may have only been playing for pride against city rivals Getafe on the final day of the season but Carlo Ancelotti's men brought their campaign to a close in emphatic fashion.
Cristiano Ronaldo led the way with his eighth hat-trick of the season while Javier Hernandez, James Rodriguez, Jese and Marcelo put the icing on the cake in an entertaining match.
Sergio Escudero, Diego Castro and Medhi Lacen bagged the consolation goals for the visitors.
There was also cause for celebration with Martin Odegaard making his Madrid debut. The Norway international made his bow aged 16 years and 157 days, becoming the youngest player to feature for Madrid in La Liga.
The result was emphatic but it brought to a close a largely disappointing campaign with saw Madrid finish the season without a major trophy. Ancelotti was forced to watch on from the stands as he served the second of his two-match ban and it could have been the Italian's last time in charge.
Ronaldo at least finished with the Pichichi award and the European Golden Shoe. His hat-trick ensured he finished the campaign with 48 league goals - his best tally since joining the club.
The Portugal star will be disappointed that did not result in the silverware he and his club craved, however. Changes are ahead for Madrid after a campaign which could end up with Barcelona winning an historic treble.
