Match Preview: Real Madrid v Getafe
La Liga, Santiago Bernabeu
Real Madrid are playing for nothing but pride as they bring their season to a close with a home match against neighbours Getafe.
Carlo Ancelotti and his men wanted to take the title race right down to the final match of the season but face playing out a damp squib of a match while Barcelona lift the title at the Camp Nou.
The aim will still be to finish on a high with victory over Getafe, not only for the season but possibly for Carlo Ancelotti's last game in charge of the club. The Italian will be in the stands, however, as he serves the second of a two-match suspension.
Madrid team news:
Madrid have plenty of players in the treatment room for their last match. Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, Luka Modric and Sami Khedira will all miss out and Ancelotti could give some chances to some of his squad players.
Javier Hernandez is set to start in attack while Ramos's absence will see Raphael Varane partner Pepe at the back.
Young forward Martin Odegaard has been included in Ancelotti's squad and should he feature for Madrid he will become the youngest-ever player to play for the club in the league.
Getafe team news:
Roberto Lago is missing through suspension for the visitors and Getafe also have an injury list to contend with.
Yoda, Alvaro Vazquez, Juan Valera and Angel Lafita are all out, while Emiliano Velazquez is an injury doubt.
Ancelotti said...
"I still haven't spoken to the club and the club hasn't spoken to me. My mindset remains that I am the coach of this team until the club tells me otherwise. On Sunday or Monday we'll sit down and we'll talk about the future. That's what this world is like. Every year there is a lot of movement and I'm surprised that anyone is surprised by that."
Predicted XI: Casillas, Carvajal, Pepe, Varane, Marcelo, Kroos, Isco, James, Ronaldo, Chicharito, Bale.
