Madrid homing in on Eriksen move
They say good things come to those who wait and Christian Eriksen looks to be a step closer to his dream move to Real Madrid.
The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was widely tipped for a move to the Bernabéu in the summer but Zinedine Zidane's preference to hold out for Paul Pogba - a move which never materialised - saw the Danish international miss out.
Madrid could still return for Pogba next summer if the Frenchman is still coach but Eriksen, the club's preference, could join him in the Spanish capital, if not arrive before him.
The 27-year-old made his desire to leave Spurs for Madrid clear in the summer and he is unlikely to pen a new deal with the London club, especially given Tottenham's poor start to the season. Eriksen will be a free agent next summer but Madrid could also sign him in January for a cut-down price believed to be around €20 million.
Spanish sports newspapers Marca and AS both ran stories about Eriksen's probable arrival at Madrid within the next year, giving some clout to rumours that Madrid have not forgot about the former Ajax man.
And with Los Blancos hopeful of competing for all trophies this year, a move for the Dane in January could be likely to boost a midfield that is already light on numbers without the numerous injuries the Madrid squad have suffered already this season.
