The day many Madridistas have been waiting for since the departure of CR7 has arrived, Eden Hazard has begun training as a Real Madrid player as of yesterday. According to Eden himself via Twitter, it was “Day 1 in the new office!” and he was apparently very excited as he posted several pictures on social media.
Hazard has begun training with the number 23 although Real Madrid has plans to offer Cristiano’s number 7 to the newly arrived Belgian striker, the number currently being used by Mariano Diaz. Number 10 was also an option but according to Hazard Modric refused to give it up! David Beckham wore number 23 some years back so it’s not a bad number to stick with.
Eden spent the morning doing routine medical tests and revisions after summer break as well as getting to know his Real Madrid teammates, with the exception of Courtois who he already knew having played together at Chelsea.
We’ll get our first opportunity to see Hazard in action with the Real Madrid Bayern vs. Munich friendly next weekend.
