Gareth Bale set to miss Atletico Madrid clash
Gareth Bale is set to miss Wednesday's huge Champions League quarter-final second leg against Atletico Madrid through injury, according to reports.
The Welshman pulled up early in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Malaga in La Liga holding his calf and COPE has reported that he will miss Wednesday's match and be sidelined for at least two weeks.
Bale is waiting until Monday morning to find out the results of scans on his problematic calf but the signs do not look good. The report on Spanish radio says the forward could be absent for between two and four weeks.
Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti will be keeping everything crossed that Karim Benzema is fit to return to action. If he is, the Frenchman could slot straight back in for Bale and form a front two alongside Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday night at the Bernabeu.
Bale will join Luka Modric, who has been ruled out of action for around six weeks with a knee injury, in the treatment room.
